Bill Clark - DBA for FunMail
The
advantage of SQL Server is also its greatest
'downfall', in that the tools
are so simple that anyone can create a working database.
When a DBA is finally brought on board, he/she usually
is inundated with
performance issues that have
inadvertently been manufactured into the
schema by a development staff that is not educated in relational
database tuning.
In my particular case
based on
my experience with Examiner, I
anticipate
a labor savings in excess of 1000 man-hours restructuring
and tuning my
company database set.
